TyKote® Recoat Bonding Agent is a wood floor bonding agent designed to promote adhesion between an existing floor coating and a new water-based topcoat. It can be used over existing oil-based or water-based coatings on wood sports floors and commercial wood floors.

TyKote provides an alternative to traditional abrasive recoating preparation by creating an intermediate bonding layer between the existing coating and the new finish. The easy-application formula dries in approximately 1 hour, helping simplify wood floor recoating projects while minimizing dust, noise, and mess associated with traditional screening methods.

Directions for Use

1. Clean the wood floor with IFT and blue pads according to the product label. Multiple cleanings may be necessary.

2. Make sure the floor is completely free of dirt, oil, and other residue.

3. Rinse thoroughly with clean water using damp mopping or an auto scrubber until the rinse water remains clear.

4. Allow the floor to dry completely before applying TyKote.

5. Shake or mix the container before use.

6. Apply TyKote in a thin, uniform layer using a clean flat mop or rayon mop.

7. Make sure every area intended for recoating is covered. Missed areas can result in poor topcoat adhesion.

8. Allow approximately 1 hour of drying time with good ventilation and air movement.

9. Apply the selected Betco water-based topcoat after TyKote has dried.

10. Do not exceed the 6-hour recoat window. If this window is exceeded, follow Betco's label instructions before proceeding with the topcoat.
